Stitches for a Cause

STITCHES FOR A CAUSE

Stitches for a cause NORTHERN NECK is the brainchild of a few members of  the Church of Christ in Richmond, Va.  Ellen K., a friend and customer of the Richmond store and has graciously allowed us to use the name – “STITCHES for a CAUSE”  Their group meets each Thursday  and one Sunday at the church and stiches up a storm.

We are using their model to start, and as the need arises will look for a larger space.

In the mean time, our mission is to create fun, innovative lap/twin size quilts using our scraps and donated fabric, while enjoying the company of some of the fun loving, sewing folks in the Northern Neck

Our classroom space will be dedicated to Stitches for a Cause for several hours on the 4th Monday of each month, and our staff will also be stitching when not helping with customers.

Each calendar quarter, or as the need arises we will asses our “stash” of completed quilts and donate them to area organizations or charities that may be in need.

What can YOU do to help?

Show up every 4th Monday of the month with your sewing machine threaded and ready to “stitch” up a storm.  We will have several quilt tops to work on.

We will need people to:

  • Cut the quilt
  • Piece the top
  • Quilt the top
  • Sew the binding

The quilts, for the most part will be strip pieced and easy to put together.

We currently have a few kits that need to be stitched as well as a few quilts that need to be quilted.

We will keep a tally of completed quilts and when we donate them we will inform the members via email or our own NN blog spot.

Hope to see you!
